Great Red Spot
Central Meridian Transit Times

The Great Red Spot is on the Earth-facing side of Jupiter for roughly 5 hours centered on the Universal Times given below. These times were computed using a System II longitude of 45.0 degrees for the Great Red Spot. These data are from the BASIC program FEATURE1.BAS. The program called Tracker v5.0 will display the position of the Great Read Spot on your PC.

The central meridian of Jupiter passes through the north and south pole of Jupiter and through the center of Jupiter's disk as seen from Earth. The central merdian transit time of the Great Red Spot is the time at which the center of the Great Red Spot lies on the central merdian of Jupiter. This happens about once every 10 hours.
