Earth Rendering

The Earth globe image to the right was created using a FORTRAN program and a data file (416K) containing RGB color information for each position on Earth (i.e. a cylindrical projection global map). The program basically just uses simple geometry to map the global map onto a sphere. The user can select the view point and illumination angles.
